“Andante” Tampa Riverwalk

“Andante” Tampa Riverwalk

Artist, Heidi Lippman created a permanent glass artwork for the new Doyle Carlton section of Tampa’s Riverwalk. The piece is titled “Andante”, an Italian musical notation for a walking tempo or walking music. The digital ceramic printing process allowed for an interplay of opacity and transparency as well as the durability needed in its exposure to the elements. The design incorporates linear elements that resonate throughout the 200 LF, 14 bay public art display.

The public art at the Doyle Carlton section of Tampa's Riverwalk was awarded to artist Heidi Lippman who created this impressive display. A display in glass that is designed to withstand the test of time and elements with GGI's Alice® direct-to-glass printing process.
"Andante" is incorporated in a mixed environment of concrete and steel bridge structure alongside the quiet flow of the Hillsborough River. Lippman's creativity and consideration for how this site could be enhanced for all to enjoy combined with her passion for music inspired here to chose the title Andante, an Italian musical notation for a walking tempo or walking music.

Lippman utilized the ancient medium of fused glass pigment with its interplay of opacity and transparency, but with today's technology in direct-to-glass printing to achieve the detail, resolution and vivid colors desired. The design incorporates linear elements that resonate throughout the 14 bay Tampa Riverwalk display.
The public art display complements the beautiful Tampa Riverwalk development and creates a stunning barrier between the walking pathway and passing traffic.
