Dilworth Park

Dilworth Park, located on the west side of Philadelphia’s City Hall, was completely renovated and is now managed by the Center City District through a long-term lease with the City of Philadelphia. The transit pavilions feature uninterrupted, oversized panels of low-iron laminated, structural glass that protects access to public transit without any metal structure supporting the roof. The glass structure supported the overall design intent of creating a multi-level, accessible area without visual barriers of the green space.

Dilworth Park has been transformed from an inaccessible, multi-level, hard-surface plaza into a sustainable, well-maintained, green public space without stairs or barriers from the street. By covering existing openings and removing unnecessary walls, steps and barriers, the renovated Dilworth Park now has 20,571 square feet of new useable area (an increase of 21%) resulting in an expanded 120,557-square-foot public space.
