Denver RTD Transit Stations
All is Well Under the Trees is a public art installation at RidgeGate Parkway Station in Lone Tree, Colorado, completed in 2019 as part of the RTD Art-n-Transit collection. The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is the Denver metropolitan transit agency, providing bus, light rail, and commuter rail services across eight counties. Its Art-n-Transit program commissions site-specific works that enrich the rider experience, transform transit spaces into cultural landmarks, and foster civic pride.
GGI fabricated 84 pieces of custom laminated glass for three RTD light rail stations. The laminated glass configuration consists of 3/16″ Starphire® low iron tempered glass, Alice® direct-to-glass printing, a .060″ SentryGlas® interlayer, and 3/16″ Starphire® low iron tempered glass, achieving a 3/8″ overall thickness. Installed by Paper Airplane Design, Co., the windscreens create a canopy of green trees that invite travelers to pause, reflect, and feel sheltered. Each station design was inspired by natural patterns found in leaves and pine needles, reinforcing themes of growth, resilience, and connection to nature.
This installation was created by artist Sandra Fettingis, whose public art portfolio emphasizes timeless, geometric patterns that respond thoughtfully to their environments. Her designs harmonize with built and natural surroundings, offering meditative spaces within urban settings.
